Directions to Start/Finish

The 100m/100k run will start promptly at 6:00 am on October 21, 2023 at the Wood Run Trail Head located on HWY 24/27 approximately 9 miles west of Troy, NC.

GPS Coordinates of: 35.310293, - 80.043726.

Parking is limited at the start/finish so we request that each runner bring no more than one vehicle per registered runner.

Drop Bags

Drop bags are available at all three of our Aid Stations (Start/Finish Aid Station, Crossroads Aid Station (Mile 6/15) And Kelly’s Kitchen (Mile 11.7) for our 100mile/k runners.  Bags can be dropped off at packet pickup or they can be dropped off at the start/finish on the morning of the race no later than 5:30 am.

There will be 2 areas with signage the morning of the race indicating which location to take the bags. Start/Finish aid will have a staging area for bags which will remain there throughout the weekend.

There are NO remote drop bags allowed for GoldRush 50K runners (Crossroads or Kelly’s). You are welcome to have a bag at Start/Finish, which will allow access at roughly mile 11.5 of your first loop. This is due to the complexity around retrieving bags from remote aid stations while the 100m/100k races are still underway.

Getting your drop bag back:

If you need to end your race/drop at a remote aid station (Crossroads or Kelly’s), please consider taking your bag with you when the crew extracts you from the course.

Whether you drop OR finish your race, coordination of your remaining bag(s) may take several hours. This is due to having to wait for a volunteer to “make a run” to or from a remote station. If you are lucky, you may wait as little as an hour for your bag, realistically it may take up to 8 hours (the shift changeover at the stations) for bags to be returned. ALL bags will be brought to the Start/Finish aid at the race’s end ~ 6:00PM Sunday evening. Please plan for this.

Due to the expense of shipping bags, we will not mail lost or forgotten bags after the race. However, we are happy to coordinate local pickup/drop-off in the days following the race.

Due to our permitting restrictions, drop bags can not be retrieved by runners/crew from Crossroads as the forest access roads are narrow leading from the race HQ to this aid station.

Pacers

Runners can have pacers after completing 41 miles (two laps).

Please be aware pacers are not allowed to carry any of the runner’s equipment (no muling).

Pacers are required to report into the Start/Finish aid station so they can be issued a Pacer bib and also so race officials can be aware of all runners that are on the course.

Runners are allowed one pacer at a time.

Pacers are welcome to any food/drink at aid stations.

CUTOFFS

The finishing cutoff for both 100K and 100 Mile races is 6:00 pm Sunday, October 20th (36 hour cutoff).

Runners must start their last lap by 11:00 am Sunday in order to be allowed to continue.

Runners must also depart Kelly’s Kitchen on their final lap heading southbound by 3:00 pm Sunday.

This will be strictly enforced.
